Secret agents in action films and thrillers have fallen in love with Baccarat. As soon as you get to know this card game, you won't wonder why. Fast action, high bets and adrenaline circulating in your veins, that's what Baccarat is all about, a game at which we're going to take a closer look now.

Charles VIII was already familiar with Baccarat

Baccarat is nothing new among games of chance because it first appeared at the end of 15th century. It's primary form was described in Europe under the reign of Charles VIII. In this era, the game expanded throughout Europe, namely from Italy to France. It expanded behind the ocean already in the present form and the ones who came in contact with it in America were the citizens of Nevada. Nowadays, we can come across Baccarat in three forms.

Punto Banco - definitely the most popular version of Baccarat. The player decides only on where he puts the bet (dealer, player, tie) and that's the end of the action. The rest of the progress is up to the croupier.

Chemin de Far - Players play against one another.

Banque - Players play against the casino.

At the beginning, Baccarat was a game only for a selected few of people and the highest society members. This all has changed. With the arrival of the internet, anybody can play this game and thanks to Baccarat Live, they also have an opportunity to experience the real casino atmosphere. There are many card games and therefore, it's not necessary to restrict yourself to only one. Amongst the favourite games, together with Baccarat, there is undoubtedly Texas Hold'em and BlackJack, which also offer a live croupier game.

How to play Baccarat live

The main game aim is for the player to get as close as possible to the value of 9 and so beat their rival. It is very important to make it clear whow the cards are counted because there are a few specific rules. Cards from 2 to 9 have their value pictured. Tens and illustrated cards (J, Q, K) have a zero value and aces (A) are for one point. The similarity to BlackJack can't be denied. However, the major change comes when the value of 9 is to be exceeded. This scenario is not possible and we're just about to explain why.

If the card total is higher than 10, then the decimal value is skipped and the final value is marked only by the digit. Let's put some examples here.

4+2=6 - the value remains unchanged

8+5=13 - because the value is above 9, the decimal value is ignored and we get number 3

A+9=10 - it's a similar example where 1+9=10 but in Baccarat, the result is 0

The progress of the game itself

In the game, the croupier hands out 4 cards, 2 to the player and 2 to the bank. If the sum on both sides equals 8 or 9, it is called 'natural' and more cards are handed out. If the sum of both cards is the same, it is, of course, a tie. The only complication in Baccarat happens when the sum of points of neither the croupier nor the player is a 'natural' after handing out the first two cards. In that case, more cards are handed out.

Game strategy

In Baccarat, there is no strategy that would ensure a definite win, however, there are a few suitable advances how to increase your chance.

The principle of the Martingale system, which is popular for all casino games, is simple: in case of a loss, we double the bet so that the upcoming, potential win, covers our loss. If we lose again, we double the bet again, and so we go on until we win.

The Paroli system is, in fact, an opposite to Martingale. While, in Martingale, we double the bet in case of losing, in Paroli, we do this in case of winning.

This system was named after the Fibonacci progression, which is used here. This progression is an endless line of natural numbers that are always a sum of the two preceding numbers, and this is what this bet system is based on. We have a progression of 1-2-3-5-8-13-21-34, which represents the multiplies of our fundamental bet. The principle is that we make two steps back in the Fibonacci progressinon, while in case of losing, we make one step forward.
